The course is intended for elementary students who have studied Czech in our A1/I course or have acquired the basics of Czech in other courses. It is assumed that the candidate has studied the textbook Čeština expres 1, or at least 6 lessons from the textbook Česky krok za krokem 1, or completed about 50-70 x 45min lessons in previous courses. Students will further develop their knowledge of A1 level in the course.
Grammar topics covered include the future tense of basic verbs, long and short verbs of motion and basic verbs with prefixes, basics of imperfective and perfective verbs, genitive and dative singular, nominative and accusative plural and personal pronouns in the dative and accusative.
The communicative topics covered include time planning, travelling, describing an apartment and house and the topic of renting/buying a house, health and seeking a medical appointment, greeting and congratulating someone and the cultural topic of visiting friends or family, accommodation, common services, how to call for help (ambulance, firefighters, police), and finding a job.
The course is taught using the communicative approach so that it is practical and interesting for the learners. Course content is presented with the needs of learners from the academia in mind. The course is taught by a Czech teacher who is able to explain the new language in English.
Textbooks come in English, German, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian and Spanish versions.
