The course is conducted online via a videoconferencing tool.
This course is intended for beginner students who have completed our A1/I course and the first semester of A1/II, or who have acquired basic Czech in other courses. Applicants are expected to have covered half of the textbook Čeština expres 2, or at least six lessons from Česky krok za krokem 1, or to have completed approximately 50–70 lessons (45 minutes each) in previous courses. Participants will continue developing their skills at the A1 level.
Grammar topics include long and short verbs of motion, basic prefixed verbs, an introduction to verbal aspect, the genitive and dative singular, the nominative and accusative plural, and personal pronouns in the dative and accusative.
Communication topics include travel, health and visiting the doctor, congratulations, cultural visits, accommodation while travelling, services, calling for help (ambulance, fire brigade, police), and job searching.
The course is taught using a communicative approach to ensure it is practical and engaging for participants. Instruction takes into account the professional needs of those working in science and research. The course is taught by a Czech teacher who can explain selected language points in English if needed.
Textbooks are available with support in English, German, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, and Spanish.
