The course is conducted online via a videoconferencing tool.
This course is designed for intermediate students who have either completed our B2/I course or reached at least a B1+ level in other programs. It is assumed that participants are familiar with approximately half of the Czech it Up 4 textbook or an equivalent portion of another B2-level textbook. The course helps students consolidate their knowledge at the B2 level.
The B2 level in Czech is unique in that students already know the basics of grammar and have a solid vocabulary for everyday communication. At this level, less common grammatical topics are introduced, such as the declension of foreign words and word order.
Grammar covered in this course includes, among others: the declension of foreign words, the imperative and infinitive forms, the pronoun všechen/všechna/všechno (“all”), and word formation.
Thematic vocabulary and conversation topics are selected to enable students to communicate effectively about current concepts of safety and danger, expand their vocabulary on justice, talk about different forms of art and their personal relationship to it, and discuss how culture and cultural awareness manifest in everyday life.
The textbook used is modern and includes engaging texts, audio, and video materials. Each unit includes an interesting written assignment, which may be assigned by the teacher. The workbook provides ample exercises for thorough practice of the material.
The course is taught in a communicative, practical, and engaging way. Instruction is tailored to the professional needs of those working in science and research. The course is led by an experienced Czech teacher. At this level, the use of an intermediary language is generally no longer necessary.
