The course is conducted online via a videoconferencing tool.
The course is aimed at complete beginners who have never studied Czech. The students will learn the basics of Czech pronunciation, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and language necessary for everyday communication. The course is designed especially for students from countries where Slavic languages are spoken (e.g. Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Croatian) and their specific language needs will be considered.
Grammar topics covered include the present and past tense of basic verbs, the nominative, accusative and locative singular, basic pronouns, numerals, time expressions, and expressions for likes and dislikes.
Communication topics include getting to know each other, finding your way around town, eating and ordering in restaurants, family, time management, important Czech personalities and travel.
The course is conducted in a communicative way, so that it is practical and interesting for the listeners. Teaching is done with the professional needs of science and research workers in mind. The course is taught by a Czech teacher who is able to explain some phenomena in English or Russian.
Textbooks can be purchased with support in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, English, German and Spanish.
